Charcoal Grills from Char-Broil

For many barbecuing fans, grilling with a charcoal grill is still the only authentic way to barbecue. From igniting the charcoal to tending to the hot embers and right through to enjoying that delicious smoky barbecue flavour, barbecuing with charcoal grills is a truly special experience.

Cooking food over an open fire is an important aspect of the cultural history of humankind. Thousands of years ago, our predecessors used to gather around the campfire to share meals, chat and tell stories. Nowadays, barbecue gatherings with family and friends in the afternoon or evening are still a popular and long-standing tradition in the spring and summer. Cooking on a charcoal grill may take a while, but this is precisely what makes it so attractive: you can simply relax and let time pass by.

Why should I choose a charcoal grill from Char-Broil?

We offer something you won’t find elsewhere: most of our grills use our patented TRU-Infrared™ cooking technology – an unrivalled grilling system for guaranteed success. This technology offers not one, but five advantages (grilled food up to 50% juicier, 100% even heat, easy to clean, no flare ups and up to 30% more economical to use) your ultimate grilling enjoyment. What’s more, you can also benefit from our experience. Char-Broil launched its first cast iron grill back in 1948 – and started a revolution.

Nowadays, Char-Broil grills are designed and developed by a core team in the USA with global support and boasting a total of more than 425 years of industry experience. Our Engineering department provides expertise in the fields of mechanical engineering, materials engineering, gas combustion and plastic and die casting design. When developing our grill products, our engineers use state-of-the-art software to spark a passion for barbecuing among people all over the world with our optimal heat transfer and ergonomic designs. On top of all this, we also guarantee top quality standards.

Our product range not only offers high-quality charcoal grills made of stainless steel but also, of course, features a number of gas grills.

The Kamander, Kettleman, Oklahoma Joe’s, Bullet Smoker and Performance Charcoal 2600 and 3500: the charcoal BBQs from Char-Broil

Char-Broil offers the ideal charcoal grill for every barbecuing enthusiast.

The Kamander is our versatile all-rounder for smoking, baking and grilling. This charcoal grill requires less than 1kg of charcoal and is therefore extremely efficient. It also features an innovative ventilation system that allows the temperature to be easily regulated for all types of food preparation.

The Kettleman, our next-generation kettle grill, features our patented TRU-Infrared cooking technology, which prevents flare-ups and makes your barbecued food up to 50% juicier.

The Kamander and Kettleman additionally offer:

  • Easily accessible ash pan for easy cleaning
  • Lid-mounted thermometer for keeping track of the preheat status and monitoring the grate temperature of your grill
  • Big wheels for easy mobility in the house or garden or on the balcony

The Char-Broil Bullet Smoker is our traditional charcoal smoker with an easily accessible ash pan. This lidded charcoal barbecue has a lid-mounted thermometer that enables you to optimally monitor the temperature of your grill.

Our Oklahoma Joe’s Smoker is a true original made of heavy-gauge steel and featuring an ‘offset’ firebox for stoking the fire and a smokestack that regulates the distribution of heat and smoke. What’s more, cool-touch handles protect your hands from the heat.

The Performance Charcoal 2600 and 3500 charcoal barbecues put a smile on the face of anyone who is a fan of grilling with charcoal. These charcoal grills use a patented charcoal tray that makes it easy to regulate the cooking temperature by achieving more efficient burning and less wasted heat. The fire pan has an external crank that enables its height to be individually adjusted, thus allowing for ideal grill control. With a width of 146.3 cm, the 3500 model is 45 cm larger than its little brother, the Performance Charcoal 2600.

Why choose just one grilling method? Char-Broil also offers hybrid grills!

If you don’t want to settle for just one grilling method, Char-Broil’s hybrid grills are the perfect solution – for example our Gas2Coal hybrid grill. This impressive product can be converted from a gas grill into a charcoal grill in less than 60 seconds, without needing any tools whatsoever! The charcoal is simply ignited with the gas burners, without any charcoal lighter.

The Gas2Coal charcoal grill is available with three stainless steel burners for 4 to 6 people (Gas2Coal 330) or with four burners for more than 6 people (Gas2Coal 440). The Gas2Coal 440 even allows you to grill with charcoal and gas at the same time.

Our universal grill, the All-Star Gas, can also be converted into a charcoal grill in just a few simple steps and within 30 seconds. All you need to do is insert the optional All-Star 1B charcoal tray (available separately) and voilà, your gas grill is now a charcoal grill! In addition to its charcoal grills and hybrid BBQs, the Char-Broil range also, of course, offers gas and electric grills.

How do you light a charcoal grill properly?

First, distribute the briquettes or charcoal evenly in the firebowl. It’s important to ensure that there are no gaps. You can alternatively pile up the charcoal or briquettes in the middle of the cooking grate and then place the food to be barbecued directly over the charcoal. To make lighting the charcoal as easy as possible, you can either use our half-time charcoal starter, a variant on a charcoal chimney, or a standard charcoal lighter.

Once the charcoal is mostly covered in a layer of light grey ash, it’s time to place the food on the grate. With our hybrid grills, you can easily use the gas burners to ignite the charcoal.

What grilling accessories do I need?

If you are the proud owner of a charcoal barbecue, we recommend that you purchase corresponding BBQ accessories such as a matching grill cover to optimally protect it in all kinds of weather. For the Kamander and Kettleman, you can find tailor-made grill covers in our range of accessories.

Other essential accessories include the half-time charcoal starter and grilling gloves to protect your hands. With Char-Broil, you can choose between three different types of glove: high-performance grilling gloves, leather grilling gloves and the barbecue mitt. All of our BBQ accessories can be easily attached to your charcoal grill cart with the help of our magnetic tool bar or the Gear Trax system.

A cast iron or stainless steel smoker box and wood chips mesquite, hickory or apple are also an absolute must for smoking fans. Our aromatic chips give your grilled delicacies an additional exquisite finishing touch.
